Reaching For The Stars is the story of an American dream that has been more than 60 years in the making. The book traces the Sands family business through three generations, starting with its modest beginnings in Greensboro, N.C. This never-before-told story contains important lessons about building a business from the ground up and about the hard work and perseverance required to grow a company in good times and bad.

The story focuses on the people and business strategies, in addition to the lessons learned, all of which helped Constellation Brands eventually grow into a Fortune 500, S&P Index 500, multinational beverage alcohol company. In parallel, the book traces the larger evolutions in American winemaking and American taste. At its core, though, Reaching For The Stars recounts a remarkable business adventure, one which repeatedly shows that for any company to succeed, its leaders must have a clear vision, unshakeable values and focused execution.

This book was a significant undertaking. It was three years in the making, and it includes 100,000 words of text and more than 200 historical and contemporary photos. It required scores of interviews and lengthy research into the history of wine on the East Coast, West Coast, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. In words and pictures, Constellation strived to create an enduring history of the people who helped guide the company from its founding and formative years in a converted sauerkraut factory located in Canandaigua, N. Y.

Reaching for the Stars is available for the special holiday price of $30.00 (plus $3.50 shipping) until December 31, 2008. Beginning January 1, 2009 it will be available for the regular price of $50.00 (plus $3.50 shipping.)
